Meet the Staff
Dr. Benz is a co-founder and co-owner of ProRehab Louisville.
Dr. Benz is nationally recognized for his expertise in private practice physical therapy and occupational medicine. His s current interests include conducting research and integrating empathy, compassion, and positive psychology interventions within physical therapy. He will be releasing a book in the near future, Called to Care, that highlights this research. With over 175 invited presentations to PT programs, national conferences, and MBA programs throughout the country, Dr. Benz has been on APTA’s Advisory Panel on Practice and The Board of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and was a Trustee and Chariman with The University of Louisville an. He is currently a Trustee with the Foundation for Physical Therapy.
He is the recipient of numerous business and physical therapy awards including the Kentucky Physical Therapy’s Outstanding Physical Therapists award and Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the year for his region. He is the co-developer of physicaltherapist.com, and blog.evidenceinmotion.com, a blog devoted to the principles of EBP in physical therapy. His Foundation is the co-developer of Jacmel Rehabilitation in Haiti which can be found at PThelpforHaiti.org.
Dr. Patricia G. Benz received her Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Kentucky’s Physical Therapy Program and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Evidence In Motion. She is affiliated with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) on both national and local levels, as well as the Private Practice Section and Orthopaedic Section.
Dr. Benz’s interests lie in outpatient orthopaedic manual therapy with an emphasis on upper extremities. Her areas of focus are general orthopaedics, would care, hand therapy, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, outcome studies, and consulting for businesses. She has spent time providing volunteer physical therapy services to Green Hill Hippotherapy, University of Miami Hospital, Haiti, and Jacmel Physical Therapy Clinic and also developed and directed SECC Strength and Balance classes.
Patricia has been married for 27 years to Laurence Benz, President and CEO of Confluent Health and ProRehab Louisville. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with their three grown children, cycling, golfing, painting (oil medium), hiking, and skiing.
Eric is the Clinic Director at the ProRehab Physical Therapy Brownsboro Road clinic in Chenoweth Plaza.
Eric earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Bellarmine University. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialist. Eric is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a member of American Physical Therapy Association and the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association.
Eric’s practice focuses on the development and implementation of functional rehabilitation programs, return to sport rehabilitation programs, and performance enhancement programs for athletes of all ages and backgrounds. He takes special interests in the evaluation and rehabilitation of golfers and is certified through multiple organizations including the Titleist Performance Institute. He also has experience working with athletes in youth organizations, pro and amateur triathletes, MMA, NCAA, MLB, and the NFL. Eric is a ProRehab Physical Therapy partner and Director of Performance Enhancement
In his spare time, Eric enjoys being outside with wife and 2 kids. His hobbies include hiking, golf, fishing, and skiing.
Nicholas is ProRehab Physical Therapy’s LaGrange Clinic Director.
Nicholas Austin is a partner of ProRehab Physical Therapy. He earned his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Kentucky. Nicholas went on to complete his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Nicholas has extensive training in Trigger Point Dry Needling and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Orthopedic and Private Practice Sections.
Dr. Pat Wempe graduated from Regis University in 2008 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). Prior to Regis, he attended University of Evansville School of Physical Therapy where he graduated in 1988 and become Board Certified in Sports Physical Therapy in 2003.
Specializing in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Pat has a sub specialty in foot/ankle injuries and custom foot orthotics.
He has been on the Medical Staff at the University of Evansville since 1990. Pat has been married to his wife Janet for 26 years, and they have three daughters: twins, Grace and Hannah (age 24) and Madelyn (age 18).
Andrea received her Doctor in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University in May 2004. She also received her Certified Strength and Conditioning specialty in June 2000 and her Athletic Training Certification from the NATABOC in February 2001. Andrea also obtained her MBA through the University of Phoenix in February 2007.
She is certified by the Academy of Lymphatic Studies in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Complete Decongestive Physiotherapy, and is a certified garment fitter for Juzo and Jobst Elvarex.
