LOUISVILLE, KY (August 5, 2019) – F45 fitness boutiques have partnered with Louisville’s ProRehab Physical Therapy to further encourage healthy fitness routines following the completion of physical therapy rehabilitation programs.

“Once patients graduate from their physical therapy program, it’s very easy to fall back into old, harmful exercise habits. We’re thrilled to partner with F45 and their engaging local community so patients can continue their recovery journey and get back to being athletes,” said Dr. Eric McElroy, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, Owner and Clinic Director of ProRehab’s Chenoweth location.

To kick off the partnership, F45 and ProRehab Physical Therapy will host three free open-house free screen days where professional physical therapists will assess gym-goers in functional movement screenings, deliver treatment demonstrations and an athlete Q&A session.

The free screening days will take place at all new F45 locations on August 17th from 8am-5pm.

F45 Owner + Orthopaedic Surgeon

● Stacie L. Grossfeld, M.D

“It’s easy to slip backwards once you’re done with PT,” said Dr. Foring. “Ensuring that patients have an efficient, supervised environment to strengthen their body in is an excellent way to maintain their body post-recovery.”

F45 Provides functional 45-minute sessions in a controlled group environment, delivered by experienced personal trainers who deliver 1-on-1 experience within a group environment, at a fraction the cost of a personal trainer.

The partnership was forged by Dr. Stacie Grossfeld, a local orthopedic surgeon who decided to purchase the rights to open the Louisville F45 locations as an extension of her lifelong love for athletics and fitness. She began her competitive career as a teenager in both cross-country skiing and cycling (USCF), and is currently a competitive tennis player. Fitness has always been a priority for her and she believes this new venture will synergize perfectly with the work she does with her patients.

“As an orthopedic surgeon, I treat a lot of injuries and arthritis. My goal is to get them back to being active and having an outlet or gym to promote a healthy lifestyle just kind of completes the circle. F45 is natural coupling that is in line with my personal and professional life,” explained Dr. Grossfeld.

What is F45?

F45, a hardcore fitness trend that originated in Australia, is the newest boutique-style fitness center that has emerged in Louisville. The Louisville locations are the first in Kentucky, and were opened by Dr. Stacie Grossfeld, owner of Orthopedic Specialists. The three aforementioned locations opened this year, with three more coming in the future. The quickly-growing fitness franchise has approximately 1,400 locations worldwide, but only 200 of those are

currently open in the United States. Long story short, Louisville fitness enthusiasts are getting in on the ground floor with the expanding franchise. Often referred to as a cross between Orange Theory and Crossfit, F45 is poised to be the go-to fitness franchise in the US – a position it’s already conquered abroad.

What is a Functional Movement Screen?

Functional Movement Screens (FMS) at ProRehab are performed by physical and occupational therapists or certified athletic trainers. A Functional Movement Screen is a test to determine “how well you move” and is used to find weaknesses before they affect sports performance or turn into injuries. The screen identifies limitations that can hinder proper function and decrease strength. ProRehab is also able to use the Functional Movement Screen to help patients transition back to activity after therapy and return to pre-injury levels. Functional Movement Screens are not just for top-athletes. Patients of all ages and skill levels will benefit by gaining strength and balance enhancing their return to work, play, or daily activity.
